CARLO MOLLINO
Italian architect, designer and photographer Carlo Mollino - or the self given pseudonym "the authentic architect" - was born in Turin in 1905. He received a degree in Architecture in 1931 and went on to have a highly diverse career covering architecture, design, interior decorating and town-planning. Among his other accomplishments, he designed a wide variety of modern furniture of all types. His enthusiasm for fast cars, airplanes and their engineering is mirrored in his creativity, making him one of the design icons of a time where modernism and surrealism meets each other to create truly original designs. Most of his iconic pieces, like the Ardea chair, was produced by Italian designer furniture brand Zanotta.
